Living Proof: Drawings from 19th Century Japan

Living Proof: Drawings from 19th Century Japan will be on display Nov. 3 through March 3, 2018 at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation, 3716 Washington Blvd. Open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. 5 p.m., with evening hours until 8 .pm. on Friday. Free admission. The exhibition will include more than 70 works by a variety of artists, including Hokusai, Kuniyoshi, and Yoshitoshi, as well as lesser known but significant practitioners. Visit www.pulitzerarts.org for more details. Companion Exhibition: In addition to Living Proof, the Pulitzer will also present a focused exhibition of three experimental short films created over the past century that highlight the relationship between drawing and animation. Organized by Assistant Curator Stephanie Weissberg, "Rough Cut: Independent Japanese Animation" will look at work produced outside of mainstream commercial studios, tracing compelling innovations from early silent film to contemporary experimentation with collage and stop-motion.
