Emmanuel Episcopal To Install New Rector On March 7
|
March 04, 2011 Emmanuel Episcopal Church, located at 9 S. Bompart Ave. in Webster Groves, will install The Rev. Daniel Appleyard as its 18th rector on Monday, March 7, in a special service.
This is the culmination of a busy 18 months for Appleyard, who has been serving as priest-in-charge. He has seen the completion of a new $2.5 million addition to the existing church and the initiation of several new outreach programs, including the City Streets project, a joint program with Americorps to provide meals and shelter for the homeless on winter weekend nights.
Appleyard, a graduate of Webster University and Yale Divinity School, came from Dearborn, Mich., where he served as rector for 16 years. He has been recently elected as a clergy representative to the General Convention of the American Episcopal Church.
Appleyard said he was excited to be led to serve God and the human family with the people of Emmanuel.
"Its commitment to reach out to care for those in need near and far, is deep and profound. Our mission is to help heal our broken world. I am thrilled to embrace that priority as a servant of Christ while rector at Emmanuel," he said.
